Your garden, worked out

A tool for every next step.

From the first bag of soil to the final row of seedlings.

From wondering to working

Three small steps. One clearer plan.

01 /

Bring your measurements.

A tape measure is a good place to start. Measure the inside of beds and use the units shown beside each field.

02 /

Make it your own.

Set your spacing, depth, bag size or local price. Adjustable inputs keep the answer relevant to your garden.

03 /

Take your plan outside.

Get quantities, practical rounding and an explanation of the formula. Check site conditions before buying.

A few things worth knowing

Grow your understanding, too.

SOIL & MATERIALS

Measure twice.
Order once.

Length × width gives area. Multiply by depth for volume, keeping all dimensions in the same unit. Use interior dimensions for raised beds and round bag counts up.

PLANTING & SPACING

Give every plant
room to thrive.

Measure spacing from plant centre to plant centre. Leave room for access, mature growth and airflow. Our layout estimate uses half-spacing edge margins.

WATER & WEATHER

Put your roof's
rainfall to work.

Collection starts with roof footprint and rainfall depth. Account for collection losses, storage capacity and overflow when turning a volume estimate into a plan.

Good questions

A little clarity
before you dig.

Simple tools, with the assumptions out in the open.

Are all 35 calculators free?

Yes. All tools on this homepage can be used without an account. Select a calculator to open it and enter your measurements.

Do I need to enter personal information?

No. These calculators run in your browser. They do not ask for your name, email address or an API key, and the calculation code does not transmit your inputs.

How accurate are the results?

Geometric results depend on your measurements. Planting and purchase estimates also depend on the chosen assumptions. Check plant labels, supplier sizes and local conditions before ordering.

Can I use my own local prices?

Yes. Material and budget tools use prices you enter, rather than claiming to know current local prices. Estimates exclude unentered delivery, labor and tax charges.

Which units do the tools use?

Every input shows its unit. Material tools primarily use feet, inches, pounds and US gallons; climate tools use Celsius. Soil results also include cubic metres and litres.
